River Cruise from Budapest to Vienna (and back again!)
Parliament Buildings, Budapest, Hungary
In October we flew to Budapest, Hungary where we embarked on an Avalon River Cruise to Vienna, Austria called "A Taste of the Danube". My husband & I are river cruise enthusiasts as to us it is such a relaxing way to travel, and we love that the ships are small & intimate (with on average just 150 passengers). Thankfully it is easy to board and disembark as there are no lines. Our stateroom was surprisingly spacious and we loved the floor to ceiling glass doors that open to a "French Balcony". River cruises are so peaceful as the ships move slowly (no worry about sea-sickness!), and the scenery is incredible!  There is always something to look at - whether it be a quaint village, a castle on a hill, or beautiful vineyards.

River cruises are known for their excellent cuisine - and we were certainly not disappointed!  We both enjoy wine too, and the regional wines they served each night with dinner were excellent (and all included in the price of our river cruise!). Local entertainers came on board in the evenings and the entertainment was terrific!

Every day we were in a different port - and what we expecially enjoy is that river cruise ships are able to go right into small villages where large cruise ships would not be able to go. There are excursions available every day...many of which are included in the price of your river cruise. You also have lots of free time to explore at your leisure...or take an additional excursion to the surrounding areas. We visited places such as Bratislava in Slovakia, Durnstein & the Melk Abbey in the beautiful Wachau Valley, Grein, Linz, and of course spectacular Vienna, Austria!

We are already planning our next river cruise (next year we want to take one of the many options on the Rhine River)...I can't wait!!  If you'd like more information on river cruises contact us
