We are a Cruise Planner's agency...but many people do not realize we do it all - and YES, we book land tours too! For those who like active vacations, you may not be aware that we also work with a fabulous company called "Backroads" that offers bicycle & hiking tours (and much more!). Traveling on your own? No problem...you would be traveling in the company of like-minded companions, you'll enjoy engaging activities—from biking and hiking to wine-tasting, sailing, savoring gourmet meals and even camel-riding
Can't you just imagine biking on a quiet country road in Europe? This is definitely on my bucket list! "Backroads" have been around for 34 years and offer a unique way to travel with both bicycle & hiking tours around the world! They design trips with flexible itineraries and plenty of options that let you personalize each day.
The bicycles are top notch 27 speed, ultra-light, very comfortable bikes that are customized for "Backroads" guests. The bike tours are split up into groups of mixed abilities and there are at least 3 leaders on every trip. They also always have 2 vans there too on every trip and trained bike mechanics with backup bikes What appeals to me is that you can take you time and go at your own pace - stop whenever you like for photo opportunities or rest stops etc. - and if you only want to bike for a short time, you can get one of the vans to take you back to the hotel to lay by the pool, go to the spa, or explore the nearby shopping areas.
"Backroads" are well experienced and provide their guests with detailed directions and clear meeting points. The accommodation is excellent - with a choice of either "premiere Inns" or "casual Inns", and your luggage is transported for you when you change hotels making for a seamless experience for their guests. The satisfaction rate is so high that many of their guests automatically book repeat trips. They offer family trips too.
There are biking and hiking tours available throughout Europe - AND they also offer trips in places like Israel, South American, Panama, China, Indonesia, India, New Zealand, etc. - as well as throughout the States and Canada. Popular Canadian bike trips include biking through the National Parks in the Canadian Rockies, or exploring quaint Quebec City. Backroads offer active trips throughout the United States to places like Alaska, and Hawaii. Imagine biking through Martha's Vineyard & Nantucket...wouldn't that be fabulous?
