What do Event Planners & Travel Agents Have in Common?
Recently I had coffee with a friend of mine Nishaka Proctor, who is the owner of Events by Nishaka and in talking to her it struck me how similar her event business is to the travel business! In both cases we meet people who decide to plan their own event or trip themselves with the hope of saving money....but are they really saving money or just buying themselves a huge headache?
Nishaka is one of the most organized people I have ever met - but of course that is one of the reasons she is so successful. Nishaka is an expert in her field and she plans and executes beautiful weddings and milestone celebrations, as well as very successful corporate events.
So why hire an event planner? Well as Nishaka says herself
"There are endless details to arrange, many logistics to organize, designs to create, service providers to hire, schedules to organize, and timelines to manage. Each responsibility requires a significant amount of time, effort, and follow-up. Given the cost involved with putting on an event, can you afford not to do it right?"
