VIKING RIVER CRUISES ON THE MISSISSIPPI!

Viking River Cruises have FINALLY announced that their long awaited USA river cruises will commence in August 2022 on the Mississippi River, construction of this unique ship is now underway - and Viking is now taking bookings!

This announcement is timely as Americans are itching to plan their next adventure - but many people are preferring to make their next trip closer to home.

Envisage meandering down the mighty Mississippi on a brand new Scandinavian style ship which will be very different to the style of ships currently offering river cruises in the USA. You can immerse yourself in American history and culture and take in the many picturesque towns and pastoral farm land as you slowly drift along the river.

Just like the European and Asian river cruises that are currently available, this new ship will be destination focused, offering cultural enrichment and regional cuisine - with impeccable service that Viking is so well known for.  In addition passengers will be able to enjoy the music so loved in this area and an Aquavit Terrace for an outdoor dining option as well as their River Cafe with the elegant, yet casual dining, that Viking guests have always come to expect.

Some of the highlights will include visits to the French Quarter in New Orleans where you could sample Creole cuisine, and visits to places such as Mark Twain's boyhood home, and a working farm in Iowa.

These cruises are all-inclusive - with a shore excursion included in every port, free WiFi, specialty teas & coffees, and unlimited wine, beer, & soft drinks with both lunch and dinner. With a Viking river cruise even your port fees and taxes are included in their fare. Surprisingly their prices are actually lower than what their competitors are currently offering for their US sailings!

Viking will be offering three 8 day itineraries including the "Heart of the Delta" on the lower Mississippi (from New Orleans to Memphis), a northern itinerary "St. Louis to St. Paul", and their Southern Celebration which is a New Orleans return option.  The 15 day St. Paul to New Orleans (or reverse) has proven to be incredibly popular already - and many of the initial sailing dates are already sold out for this itinerary which will traverse through 10 different states.
